• Client brief Located in the subtropical city of Wenzhou in the southwest of China, the Xiaoshi Restaurant draws inspiration Tang and Song Dynasty Culture and classic Japanese aesthetics, fusing them together to form a refined contemporary aesthetic. Guests pass through a narrow hallway at the entrance, opening up to an expansive view of the tall dining hall, with continuous full-height windows offering an elevated view of the city below. Designer Wang Lianglong has incorporated a color palette which recalls the feeling of a moonlit evening through dark wall panels, flooring, and furniture, punctuated with eye-catching details and linear illumination of gold.
