Architizer’s 13th Annual A+Awards spotlight local innovations and global visionaries

Architizer, the largest online platform for architecture, announces the official opening of the 13th Annual Architizer A+Awards, honouring the year’s best buildings and spaces.

The Architizer A+Awards is the world’s largest and most democratic architectural awards program. It celebrates the extraordinary work of designers in over 85 countries worldwide. Now in its 13th season, the program will highlight designers who blend global influences with local traditions, materials, and knowledge, building remarkably contextual yet decidedly innovative architecture that addresses pressing global concerns.

“We want to create a dialogue about where architecture is heading," says Michel Rojkind, Founder, of Rojkind Arquitectos. "We constantly ask ourselves ‘Is what we're doing in this lifetime part of the solution or part of the problem?’.”

Architecture today is marked by international settings and technologies, the import and export of goods and ideas, and auniversally shared climate crisisd. The 13th Annual A+Awards will honour projects that are responding to the industry'sglobalisationy in unique and contextually sensitive ways. Returning this season are the Sustainability Awards, in which entrants must meet stringent design criteria created in partnership with leading green building experts, as well as categories for adaptive reuse and renovation works that contribute to the revitalization of buildings and communities worldwide.

The 13th A+Awards maintains its commitment to the democratic judging process, highlighting design’s impact on people’s everyday lives with an online vote by the public in each category. In collaboration with its official partners, v2com newswireAIA New York, and Aesthetica, the 12th Annual A+Awards received over 400,000 public votes on 5,000+ entries from over 80 countries worldwide.

New this year is a suite of categories dedicated specifically to firms and projects emphasizing global vision and local context, spotlighting architectural innovation that is deeply rooted in place. This season also sees the addition of categories honouring materiality and detailing, as well as experimental approaches and technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) design. The 13th A+Awards are judged by Architizer’s 250+ jury academy, featuring prestigious members of the architecture and design community, as well as luminaries from the art, technology, fashion, media, business, and real estate industries. Notable jurors include:

  • Kongjian Yu (Ecological building leader and Founder, of Turenscape)

  • Evelyn Lee (Founder, Practice of Architecture and AIA National President)

The 13th Annual A+Awards also sees the return of Architizer: The World's Best Architecture, an annual compendium of the world’s best spaces. The book, which has featured winners like Foster + PartnersKengo Kuma and AssociatesMecanooNeri & HuSanjay Puri Architects, and Studio Gang, is the year’s definitive architectural guide.
