The Tai Kwun chairs form an emblematic, modular furniture system that harmonizes with the distinctive design languages of the ancient and contemporary architecture of the Tai Kwun Arts and Cultural Centre.

The Tai Kwun chairs form an emblematic, modular furniture system that harmonizes with the distinctive design languages of the ancient and contemporary architecture of the Tai Kwun Arts and Cultural Centre. The elegant curving form of each chair is ergonomically designed for comfort and is inspired by the floating boxes of the new architecture as well as the roofscape of the historical buildings.

The use of different coloured sustainable wood creates a gradient pattern that perfectly balances the need for an iconic design while co-existing in harmony with its surroundings.

A bespoke locking system ensures that each chair can be easily installed and removed to ensure ultimate flexibility in seating arrangements to suit large-scale performances, small group gatherings, and passers-by looking for a moment of solitude.

Each chair is designed to be easily stackable to become an impromptu artwork, as well as to ensure that they can be stored in a space-saving and efficient manner.
