Situated in the serene hills of Pirangut, Pune, the ‘Serenity Ridge’ represents an exquisite blend of contemporary design and natural beauty. This 1500 sq. ft. duplex, crafted by Ar. Siddhina Sakla of The Arch Studio, Pune, epitomises the harmonious integration of modern aesthetics with the tranquil environment of its locale.  Set on a hilly terrain, the location provides stunning panoramic views of the city below, enhancing the sense of escape and seclusion. 

The client envisioned ‘Serenity Ridge’ as a weekend retreat—a space that is more modest yet deeply connected to nature. The primary aim was to create a residence that fosters interaction between its occupants and the natural surroundings. The client sought a home that, while modern and minimalist, would integrate effortlessly with its environment. The design concept for the space focuses on creating a serene and minimalist environment that feels both modern and timeless. Central to this concept is the use of natural filtered light, which infuses the space with a calming glow and emphasises the home’s connection to the outdoors. The interior features soft textures and a double-height ceiling that frames breathtaking views, achieved through minimal use of false ceilings. 

Upon entering ‘Serenity Ridge’, visitors are greeted by an entrance foyer that sets the tone for the rest of the residence. The foyer’s earthy colour palette and use of natural materials create an inviting atmosphere. A striking brick wall serves as a backdrop for a cane console and mirror, enhancing the space’s organic charm. The printed tiles and ambient natural lighting further contribute to the foyer’s warm and welcoming ambience.

The living room continues this theme, showcasing a rich palette of natural materials such as rattan and cane. These elements are integrated into various features, including furniture, pendant lamps, wall decor, and furnishings. A mustard yellow accent is introduced through woven medallion rugs and printed florals, adding a vibrant touch that complements the earthy tones. Grey fluted battens on the walls provide a zen-like backdrop, allowing for the inclusion of uplifting plants and minimal decor. The grey floor, highlighted by printed tiles, adds character and direction to the space.

The dining area of the home features a solid wood dining table and chairs, which are elegantly set against a grey backdrop. The space is brought to life with tropical paintings that add a splash of colour and warmth. This cosy setting is designed to be both functional and inviting, making it an ideal space for family meals and gatherings. The combination of natural wood and vibrant artwork creates a harmonious and comfortable environment that enhances the dining experience. The reading den is a thoughtfully designed space that offers a perfect retreat for relaxation and intellectual engagement. The bespoke bookshelf, featuring angular partitions, serves as both a functional storage unit and an eye-catching design element for books and artefacts. 

Serenity Ridge includes three distinct bedrooms, each thoughtfully designed to offer its unique ambience. The master bedroom is characterised by minimalist white walls and simple grooves that create a serene backdrop for the rich mahogany four-poster bed. The use of neutral colours, sheer drapes, and light linens adds warmth and privacy, creating a space that is both functional and luxurious. The second bedroom features a striking arch as the back panel of the bed, adorned with a blush pink colour that imparts a soothing and gentle atmosphere. Rustic cane furniture and a round, rustic rattan dresser contribute to the room’s cosy and eclectic feel. 

Serenity Ridge stands as a remarkable example of modern architecture harmoniously blending with its natural surroundings. The design thoughtfully integrates contemporary elements with a deep respect for nature, creating a serene and inviting retreat. Through the careful selection of materials, a minimalist approach, and a focus on sustainability, this home achieves a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal. The result is a tranquil sanctuary that offers a peaceful escape from urban life, reflecting a commitment to both modern design and environmental harmony.
